Since 2006, Kelly McDermott-Burns of HeartSong Reiki and HeartSong for Animals has been bringing heart-centered healing to people and animals in central Vermont and around the northeast. Kelly has trained in the Let Animals Lead® Method of Animal Reiki with Kathleen Prasad and is a Certified Online Teacher and a Teacher of Excellence. Kelly has also trained with Frans Stiene of the International House of Reiki and Hyakuten Inamoto of Komyo Reiki Do. She is a certified Meditation and Mindfulness Teacher and End of Life Care for Companion Animals Doula.
Kelly is the East Coast Director and Ethics Officer for the Shelter Animal Reiki Association (SARA) and is on the board of Tree of Life for Animals (TOLFA), Inc, US.
In addition to volunteering at a local humane society and farm sanctuary, Kelly was the Reiki Volunteer Coordinator for several years at Rutland Regional Medical Center where she was instrumental in creating their Reiki program. A Hospice and Palliative Care volunteer, Kelly was also part of the team that developed the Hospice Reiki program in Rutland as a trainer and volunteer. In addition, Kelly worked with Gifford Medical Center to bring Reiki to their patients.
Kelly has taught at many shelters and sanctuaries in the Northeast. In 2016 Kelly traveled to India as a SARA ambassador sharing Reiki with the animals of TOLFA, India, Animal Aid, LTD, and Wildlife S.O.S.
In 2019, she joined SARA VP Leah D’Ambrosio to bring the Let Animals Lead® method of Animal Reiki to Keepers of the Wild Sanctuary in Arizona and in 2023 co-taught Level 3 at the CARE Foundation in Florida.
